Carpet runner
by Eva Rinaldi Celebrity and Live Music Photographer

Question by Wednesday: What is the best glue to lay a carpet runner on stairs?
Before I tack the runner to the stairs, I am going to glue it to the stairs. Any suggestions as to which type of glue is best to use for this purpose?

Best answer:

Answer by don_vvvvito
most installers will use an electric stapler and will just staple around the edges of the runner on the actual step….although I have never glued down carpet on steps I see nothing wrong with it…….they make a lot of different brands of carpet glue……I would just get one that is especially made for carpet and has a super grip quality….the max grip is kind of pricey though…..instead of going to a store like Lowes, you can more likely find a kind like that at a local flooring store….

Yes! It is possible, I have it on my stairs – you just have to get thicker nails, or longer – so it goes through the carpet.

Try any local fabric store, or home-depot.

Does red and purple accents work for a neutral-colored family room?

Question by Jeannie B: Does red and purple accents work for a neutral-colored family room?
I’m trying to think of a good accent color that goes with red. Our family room has cappacino-colored walls with ultra-white baseboards, light brown tile and tan carpet. I want to jazz up the neutral colors with something edgy, yet classy. How does purple and red look together? Maybe purple and red throw pillows, fake purple and red flowers in silver vases and a red rug will go..I’m new to the decorating scene so please let me know if this sounds OK!

Red and purple is one of my favorite color put-togethers. Its not for everyone, but I love it
If youre feeling extra bold, try tossing orange at that combination for an added punch!
