Question by cowboy_fan: How do I clean a large area rug that has been spit up on a lot?
I have a large area rug in my living room that my 8 month old plays on all the time. He has spit up on it several times. I always wipe it up afterwards but it is starting to smell musty. What is the best way to get the odor out? I owuld like a way that can be used often.

Can it be put in a washer? Take it to a laundry mat and stick it in one of those large industrial size washer.

Move it to a hard surface like wood and if you have a steam cleaner you can use the hand tool on that to clean it front and back and drape it over your kitchen table until it is completely dry before you put it back on your floor.

If you don’t have a steam cleaner take it to a dry cleaners they can do it for you and it doesn’t cost an arm and leg to get it done.

Vinagar and water, but make sure u test it first on a small area. Make sure it doesn’t take the color away.
You can also get a deodorizer form the cleaning section in any store, just make sure you test that first to.
Baking soda is also good, or you can get a carpet cleaner and that should take the smell away to.

You really need to get rid of the cause of the odor instead of just covering it up.

I would rent a rug doctor or similar carpet cleaner from your local grocer or hardware store. Cleaner and machine should run you about 30 U.S. dollars for the day. And this will give you enough cleaner to do a few rooms.

Other than cleaning you can use Fe breeze odor remover.
