Flanagan and Pettengill houses shed light on city’s past

For a combined 315 years, the Flanagan and Pettengill houses have been standing on the city’s two bluffs.   The who’s who of Peoria — and Illinois — walked through their rooms as they molded this area into what it is today.   For the last 50 or so years, those mansions have been under the care of the Peoria Historical Society, which has opened them to the public as a sort of living history lesson.

Moorestown’s ‘Stokes Estate’ has a cozy Christmas glow

It will probably always be known in Moorestown as the “Stokes Estate,” although the Stokes family first occupied it nearly a century ago.
