Well you CAN paint it any color, but in order to make it look cute why not make it light or baby blue with like clouds or something or even a dark purple. Good luck with your room!

what about a pretty gray or silvery color. When I got my room redecorated, i was stuck with dark blue dressers, so I understand. Painting the room black will make it look like a boy’s room. A silvery color will go great with dark blue because I don’t know one boy who would paint their walls silver and it will make the room more feminine despite the rug.

Dark blue is really a pretty versatile color; That’s why denim bluejeans are so poplar.

You could try something neutral like cream, or you could use peach or even a light purple or lavender. Or you could try one of those colors, and an accent wall matching your rug.

    Good luck!

Do Monochromatic colors for blue( different colors or shades of blue) Figure what really pops and compliments the rug.

    Have fun!!!!

Here is a link that shows blue with other colors.
If for instance, you had a comforter that was colorful like the pic, you could then choose one of the colors in the comforter for the walls.

Like a pale turquoise or pale green, even white along with the blue carpet and colorful comforter that tied it all together.
    You get the idea.
Find some accessories…rugs, comforter, etc that contain a good looking blue and other colors and then choose a color from these to use on the wall.
The wall color does not have to match, it can be lighter or darker.
With a color combo like this 2nd link, you could choose a soft beige, lt. blue or even white for the walls.

I really like the color combo in this next link…you could use white, pale green or a pale turquoise for the walls.

Either theme your room in shades of blue, or paint it orange- the opposite color on the color wheel is a great compliment.

A purple or a light blue would look good. Maybe you can paint other designs on the wall too, hearts, clouds, names, etc…

Go to this site and paint the ceiling a dark blue.
Pick some colors you like for the walls. I’m sure just about anything will go.

The rules don’t have to be followed all the time. It’s what you like!

Paint the walls white, then using a stencil, or sponge, the size of 1/2 of a brick. (red brick). Use a silver metallic frost color for a contemporary look. The idea of the silver is to use just touches rather than great swaths, so stamp blocks approx 12-20″ apart. and staggered. So, it’ll look like this, I think. * * *

You could use a deep lilac for curtains, or covered headboard with splashes of deep lilac w/ pillows,I would use a cute little silver lamp, and silver drawer pulls on a white dresser. You could use dark blue accessories, to match the carpet, because the silver is going to make it look VERY GIRLY. Good luck.

I would probably paint the walls a pastel green. With a dark carpet, you want to keep the walls a lighter shade. Use bedding with blues, whites, lime greens or chocolate browns. Blues and browns look great together. You can add various color throw pillows and use the colorful accents on picture frames, mirror frames, posters, lighting, etc.

Even though you have carpet, a colorful throw rug will add a pop of color to the floor as well.

I have a blue carpet and on the carpet there are specks of cream and a tan colour so I am sure they are suitable and nice colours.

White, duh. Then you can put pretty accent colors around the room like hot pink or dark blue or light blue in the lamps, comforters, pillows, etc.

Lime green would be outstanding. It is a great color and goes beautifully with navy. This may sound a little scary but it is great…..

Gray always looks good with dark blue. My bathroom is painted gray. I have a gray tub/shower and gray counter top. I use dark blue towels and a few dark blue accessories.

Your bedroom can look cute with accessories you choose. You could hand a pretty dress on the wall with accessories to go with the dress. You could also use most soft colors that would bring out the dark blue. The dark blue carpeting is the main color that you work off of. The gray will work off the blue. Because you have dark blue carpeting it doesn’t have to look like a boys room. It all depends on accessories you use. I think a few pillows, depending on colors you choose will brighten things up. You don’t have to have every matching. Multi colored dresser scarves can also be considered. It all depends on what you like.

I have a space in my home were are have my oriental collection. I have three kimono’s hanging on the walls so I can enjoy looking at them. All colors don’t have to match. Anything you want to do go for it. Have fun and enjoy.
