I have a large area rug in my living room that my 8 month old plays on all the time. He has spit up on it several times. I always wipe it up afterwards but it is starting to smell musty. What is the best way to get the odor out? I owuld like a way that can be used often.

Websites where I can get cheap but large area rugs ?

Question by dragonrain11: Websites where I can get cheap but large area rugs ?
Yo!
My apartment floors are horrable tiles in the living and bed rooms and I hate it! It’s cold and cracked up and ugly. Anyways, we started looking at area rugs but for the sizes we would need to cover most of the rooms we are only finding ones that cost like $ 1,000 – and we can’t afford that – and thats at places like kohls and target, places I thought would be cheap.

Are there any websites where I can buy large area rugs for cheap? Or could I even buy the kind of rugs they usually install but not install it? Where would I get that? At this point anything is going to look better then these stupid tiles!

Best answer:

Answer by Practically Prudent
By stupid tiles, do you mean the hard type or the carpeted ones? Has a some reasonably priced carpeting solutions.

Also give Lowe’s a shot, their website is no indicator of the deals they usually have going on in the stores. My lady and I got a nice area rug for 150 dollars 8-15′ and it’s not a butt ugly pattern. Oh and check out the bargain racks at your local furniture warehouse, they’ve always got good deals on products they often can’t sell quickly.

Question by Sarah: Ok. I have a copule of large area rugs (66″ by 90) and they move and wrinkle?
please please please don’t tell me get rug grip or stoppe or ..
the rugs are on the carpet. very old carpet. i’ve tried grips and rug pads. nothing works. someone said nail them to the floor. I did that with medium size nail, but they came out easily.
can I screw them to the floor with electric screw driver? what size screw should it be? thanks

Best answer:

Answer by Blinds Etc
if you know you have hard wood flooring under your carpet (which a lot of houses have) you can use the right size like a #8 dry wall nail with a phillips head on it (they come in black if better to blend) and use a drill with a phillips head drill bit on it and that should do the trick. but if you have concrete under your carpet and padding then you’ll just have to keep searching for the right pad/rug grip. hope this helps :))

Can I bind two small area rugs to make one large one?

Question by SuzeY: Can I bind two small area rugs to make one large one?
Okay, so I’m being cheap! However, I saw these really cute pink shag area rugs on sale at Target this week. I need it to be larger than the 5 x 8, so I was thinking of somehow binding the two so I would have a 10 x 16. Does anyone know if this is possible? I don’t want to use anything too gooey to join them because the rug will be going over hardwood floors. Let’s hear some creative practical solutions that will work please!

Best answer:

Answer by Chanteuse_ar
You could probably sew them together with rug yarn that you can get in a craft store. Depending on what the backing of the rugs are made of, this might be difficult OR, they have iron on tape that is made just for rugs. I’ve never seen it in the stores but I’ve never really looked for it either. I did see them use it on a show on HGTV. You lay the rugs face down with the joining edges against each other on the floor, place the tape evenly along the edges you want to connect, and press with a hot iron.

When the joined rugs cool, turn the piece over and comb back and forth with your fingers to hide any of the new seam that night be showing.

I have 2 rooms with a large are rug (5×8) in the middle of each one and they look really good. This is a good way to be able to use other color schemes.
