Question by atyaph: What color for a modern rug should we get for our living room?

We want a big one, 3 meters x 3 meters.

I’m not good with colors so I need opinions 🙂

Here is a picture:

Note: The Wall Unit/Coffee Tables in the room are Lacquered White Wood.

Thank you 🙂

well it looks like your living room is made up of cool colors, not warm colors. so when your picking your rug make it with cool colors, not deep dark and warm. get something soft colored like a blue, green, white, yellow, gray.

You may want to consider your beautiful flooring as starting point. Aim for the rusty colors from the floor. Look for patterns in the rug with clean lines, like geometric patterns. The rusty color combo will go with your paint and couch fabric. Will be a nice accent and look rich together. To also help carry out this theme you can inexpensively incorporate pillows and a throw on the couch. I would go with the neutral colors like this being that you have the white wood. Area rugs are great to soften and ground your seating area. Good luck!

I think you should get light tan or a very dark brown.

I’d choose an area rug that will pick up on the colors in your room without dedicating itself to just one color. An area rug such as this would be perfect with your wall color and couch color. It would also pick up on the white of your wall unit.

When placing a large area rug, be sure to work it in as part of your room. Place it at the base of your couch or in front of your wall unit, depending on the location. An area rug can be a focal point, so make the most of it.

When you have a contemporary area rug, you can take shapes or colors from it and work them in as accessories in your room. With circles, you can add a circular vase, lamps, or photo frames.
