Question by annie78: What color rug for my living room?
My living room is brick red with off white celing, trim and moldings. Sofas are currently a mocha color, but will probably be replaced with a tan/ beige soon. Other furniture are varying wood stains (mostly antiques). Drapery is off white. Wood floors are very light in color. I’m replacing my traditional style area rug and want a solid color. Should I do tan, brown, or brick red?

I would go with a tan. It’ll go with everything, and bring a little pop to the room.

I would probably go with a tan. It’s warm but modern at the same time.

i would say brown ‘cuz tan is too bright and brick red is too much.brown would just cool it down some.

As long as the carpet matches the drapes you’ll be ok…or at least thats what i’ve been told!

    definetly brown.
the red will look too matching with the wall color and tan is kind of boring

Brown. That will contrast nicely with your floor and drapes, won’t scream at your furniture, and won’t show dirt very easily.

    Good luck!

The brick red, if it matches the wall color, would ground your walls & would be OK. The tan would blend in with your new sofa choice, probably make them kind of fade out of the room. The brown would make the furniture stand out & would not compete with the wall color.

I would go with the brown & get pillows and room accents that would pull the colors together.

I say go with a reddish brown carpet to blend the color palette of the room then you should put some throw pillows the same color on your couch . I think if you went with the brown or tan it would one blend to much with the wood flooring & two just be dull in color .
