Question by Onlooker: What do I do with a damaged rug?
I have a large rug (about 8’x17′) rug. I paid around $ 2500 for it about 15 years ago. The tag on the rug said it’s “Englis,” which I believe has to do with Iran or Persia, not with England.” Unfortunately, it has about a large area (about 2′ x 1′ severely damaged by moths (they ate the pile) as well as another small area. I am getting a new rug, and wondering what I should do with the old rug. Is it worth repairing and selling? Should I sell it as is for a few hundred bucks (would anyone pay that)? Should I try to cut it down and sell it? Or donate it? Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

Take it to a carpet restorer and ask how much it would cost to repair. Sounds like a valuable rug to fix.

as you have already paid so much for this rug you will be prepared to pay for it to be repaired by an expert found on yellow pages or the net
