wool – expensive, naturally fire proof, if properly maintained last a long time, however can’t always be cleaned, not always stain resistant

synthetic – much cheaper, much easier to clean, ussually much higher stain resistance

Wool are beautiful, should last generations and feel truly luxurious. While they are a specialized product to clean, they clean very well. Two tips to ask your cleaning professional are what temp. he will clean with and what type of product.
Wool needs cool water cleaning and a balanced pH product for cleaning. Any good professional will know immediately what you are asking, if not, call someone else.
I clean wool, silk (the worst), special cottons … regularly with great success. Even red coloring comes out with modern chemicals and cleaning techniques.

Many people prefer wool for it’s natural qualities.
    -naturally flame retardant
-does not give off harmful emissions
-purifies indoor air by absorbing contaminants
-does not carry a static charge so does not attract dirt like synthetic
-naturally resists water so is stain resistant
-wears well and is a great insulator

A Persian rug made of wool is an investment that will increase in value. It depends on what factor is most important to you as to what rug you will buy. If lowest price is the only concern then you will be happy with a synthetic rug. If you do not like off-gassing and prefer the natural qualities of wool or want an investment then you’d go with wool. Hope this help.
